Deere 5420 clutch slip and replacing

Gotta buddy who bought a cabbed 5420 a few months back. previous owner said a clutch had been installed in the last yr or so before selling. My buddy has used it for a few months and now its getting hard to go in gear and grinding. They split it and just by looking at the removed clutch can see nothing wrong with the clutch or pressure plate. They said linkage adjustment was ok and it was being fully engaged.
ideas or thoughts?

Also, from the looks of it the cross shaft the throw out bearing is on has to come out to change it out. Which looks as though the cab has to come off and fuel tank removed to get that pin out. Anyone confirm that before i go look at it for him?

Slipping clutch plate is normally caused by insufficient clutch pedal free travel or weak pressure plate springs. Throw out brg should be R&R without removing operating shaft.

IIRC there are three bolts that connect the "fork" to the shaft, remove these and the fork will rotate enough to allow the throw out bearing assemble to come off. The bearing and collar are press fit to the sleeve.

If the shaft has to come out (maybe to replace shaft bushings) IIRC, you can do that by removing the left front cab mount. Be sure to support the cab corner.
