Deere 4320 compact (Ford 5000, RIP)
I have a couple of projects:
1) Try to loosen up the throttle lever a little. It is very hard to push and pull.
2) Install a monitor and backup cameras, one to watch for traffic behind me when I'm on the road and maybe another to better see the tips of my pallet forks. I'll need to mount the monitor in front of the steering wheel, and hook up the wiring.
So... I need to get inside that area. Can someone direct me to a good how-to, preferably with pictures or drawings? What do I remove first?

Thanks!

Thank you Dusty; I will give that a try.

Enter 4320 for model number, but note that there is an older Deere model of the same number.
You want to select the 4320 compact utility from the listing. Then go to alphabetical and Dash. A few different, depending on CAB or HST...

Be very careful with the plastic tabs.. at least on my 4300 they are quite brittle. The Deere mechanic that replaced my instrument panel under warranty was a brute and broke several tabs off that I then had to repair with epoxy and fiberglass.

Do you have the service tech manual ? That would be worth having if you want wiring schematics for your camera setup.

I have to stand up to see the tips of the forks, which means defeat the seat switch.

Haha, yeah, that's one of the reasons I'd like to try a camera up there. At least the engine keeps running on the Deere. I have a diesel Walker mower that stops dead if I'm on a hillside and can't keep enough of my skinny butt on the seat.
Your problem with the tabs is why I'd like to get advice from somebody who's disassembled it before, or at least a detailed drawing of the whole area. Nowadays, so many of these plastic parts snap together, and there's no way to know whether it will pop apart if you pull a little harder or if it's secured with a screw and you're about to rip something into pieces.
I do not have a service manual. I assume there's no way to get one free. Saw a price of $125 on MyJohnDeere.
Yes, unfortunately I'm plenty old to remember the previous 4320. First JD I drove was a Model A, sitting on my Dad's lap. :cloud9:

The service manual can be found for less than that.

The old A that you had to start by turning over the flywheel by hand? That was fun when the temp was -20 F and every day was "haul out manure to the fields".

I'm sure that there are no "snap together" tabs, but someone will be along that knows positively. The fail is not removing all the screws, IIRC.

Ah, thank you! Might be worth it to get that manual. Think I'll be keeping this beast for a while.
