Deere 316K ogura pto siezed - disassembly?

Using the 316 Kohler garden tractor the other day, everything fine, runs ok. Shut it down and now it won't turn over. Acts like the engine is siezed :shocked:
Cant get it to spin even by trying to turn the crankshaft.

Start diagnostics and find that the front pto clutch is froze solid - rotor locked to field coil and won't move.

I removed the clutch and am trying to disassemble to see what is up. Cant get the rotor to come off the field coil/base assembly. Driven plate (part that the pulley mounts to) came off ok and looks fine. The outer bearing turns free.

Questions:
Is there a bearing in the field coil/base plate assembly that could have siezed? Deere parts lookup does not show one, or a breakdown of the field coil assembly - just the whole coil assembly @ $100.

The rotor is supposed to just lift off the field coil, correct? No screws or anything holding it on (except the bolt in the end of the crankshaft holding the clutch together)? How would I get them apart? I sprayed it with pb blaster to soak overnight and wil try again tomorrow.....

I can't find anything about this problem anywhere. Am familiar with clutch plates sticking/friction welding themselves together - that is not what I have. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about the problem.

What is "ogura pto" ?

Ogura is the manufacturer of the pto. The 300/316 oem'ed with two suppliers. Warner (the square one), and Ogura - which has a tapered rectangular base. They are bult different, so you need to know which you are dealing with. Mine has the Ogura part.

I believe the only thing you can do to those is adjust the free play.

If it is the same Ogura PTO as this one,they definitely can be rebuilt.:thumbsup:
