The slider gear that allows movement from low to high range appears to be ground up. I'm also guessing the gear it interfaces with is tired.

How much of a job is it to take apart the tranny and replace these gears? Is it a 2000 dollar job? I'm sure the gears are not accessible through the top of the tranny case.

thanks

Trans case must be split from clutch housing to replace any gears.

The tractor has to get split at the front of the trans, and depending if you need to change any gears in the lower cluster, the final drives need to be removed. The lower shaft in the trans comes out to the rear with final drives removed. You have the same trans that I have in my 950. Not a fun job. Just had my 950 down that far to change out 3rd gear. I would sure want more than $2000 for that job. The gear cluster that 3rd gear was on was more than $800 for just the cluster new + all of the gaskets. Split the tractor, remove the valve body from the top of the case for access, remove the final drives. Good news for me was I got the gear cluster from a salvage yard for half price, but the total cost in parts was still close to $800. This job is not a walk in the park but can be done if you have some sort of a hoist to aid in disassembly. With a chain fall on a A frame it was easy enough for 1 person to do. Good luck,
Chris
