Musser Forests sells some stuff they call “Deer Away”. Has anyone tried this stuff?

Mosey,

Yes, I have. It's not worth the money. It didn't keep deer from munching on my shubbery and lower limbs of my pines.

I've found the only effective deer remediation strategy is having a good barking outside dog. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Yes, I tried it and won't continue. It seemed to work for the time it was on (which is until the first or second good rain). I plugged-up my good backpack sprayer with the crud which apparently includes an egg product. Maybe that is where the smell comes from. It was very difficult to mix (comes in two parts) and to keep it mixed so it would not come out of suspension while spraying. This problem may have been my fault, but I won't try to go that route again. I was trying to protect my red oak seedlings, and the following year I just tied white paper popcorn sacks on the terminal (main) buds during the winter. Most of these sacks stayed on through rain, snow, and wind - I took them off when the new bud-growth started. This solved the problem of the deer browsing on the buds before they opened, but then the deer switched to eat the new growth throughout the summer. This year I didn't do anything, and so far the deer damage has been minimal.

Just bribe a motel maid to get yourself a bunch of those little soap bars. Hang the soap from the tree, wrapper still on works, and the deer will leave the veggies alone.
You have to hang a soap about every 10 feet.

I tried it and they still ate the trees. I planted them on a Sat. and sprayed them until the leaves were white. By Teusday they were all gone. I mean the whole three foot trees!

Thanks everyone. It's beginning to sound like a dog is my best bet!
