Does anyone know how to decode the Kubota serial #? I am specifically looking for the year it was built. If no one knows than my next step will be to call a Kubota dealer in the next few days and see if they can help. The one I talked to today said he can only look it up and tell me the year it was sold. But that does not sound right.

Thanks,

Ryan

yes I can decode for you.
yery easy.

On the new tractors first digit is production year
v=1997
w=1998
x=1999
y=2000
1=2001
2=2002
9=2009
a=2010
b=2011
c=2012
d=2013

second digit is production month
a or b = jan
c or d = feb
e or f = mar
j or k = may (no I as looks like a 1)
n or p = July (no o as looks like an 0)
y or z = dec

if on an older tractor (pre 1997 the first 4-6 numbers are production month or year)

I am looking at a B3200 and the serial# I wrote down is 57641. I do not remember seeing a letter. Also just looked at L3200 for sale online that had a pic of the serial badge (69978). It did not have a letter either.

Check the link I posted and be sure you are looking at the correct engine tag for the serial number. There may be other numbers such as frame #s as well. I made the same mistake when I needed to order a part for a generator.

Yep I have the # off of the frame tag. I did not get the engine serial #.

The 5 digit serial number will not give you the build year or sell year. You can determine the date of sale by the 5 digit number (via your dealer). As for the engine serial number, it will tell you when the engine was built, but not when the tractor it was in was built. Kubota does not have "year model" tractors, just series. The only thing you can usually tell from the serial number is 4wd or 2wd on the tractors. Your B3200 is 4wd (5XXXX).

Hi there,
New member here and hope you dont mind me dropping into the conversation! I am having a similar serial number confusion. I have an older (mid 80's ?) M4500DT
Serial number 10600 There are no alpha prefixes except on the engine serial which is S2600A.
I'm trying to locate what is turning into a difficult part so any help would be appreciated!

generally the serial numbers don't mean anything on their own. They start at 1 (or somthing) and go up from there. They are only unique within a series, you would have serial number 50,000 on both BX and an RTV for instance.

No 5 digit #s found anywhere, The only numbers found in all the place mark positions are as follows,
1802-1a2 / 1302-I620 / P 1A20. These #'s were taken from the advised points on the tractor including the top of valve? Near oil filter, & rear of engine?
Please Advise.
