I purchased a Cub 2130 last summer and totally love the machine. The only problem I have is that the deck seems to be pretty low even on the highest setting. It is supposed to adjust from 1/2" to 4 1/4". The bottom of my deck is just over 2 1/2" when at the highest setting. If I want to mow at 3 or 3 1/2" I can't because the deck does not go that high. It is properly leveled, but I cannot see any other adjustments that can be made. I spoke to a dealer and he suggested the front support bolts were not into the notches all the way, but I checked that and they are fine. I am stuck mowing at 2 1/2" and it really bothers me. Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry but you are going to have raise the front bracket bolts to your deck and relevel your deck, get your self 2( 2by4) a level floor raise your deck to the highest seting place the 2 by 4 upright under the deck. drop the deck on the 2 by 4. using your front bracket bolts 2 of them. and your side to side bolt adjustment, just one. make sure it sits even on the 2 by 4, this will give you on setting 6 = 41/2inch, hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I have one question though. If I could raise the deck high enough to get 2X4 under it then the deck would already be high enough. If I raise the front bracket it will put the front of the deck as high or higher than the back which is not right. I am still convinced that this deck was never made to go that high. A 2X4 is still only 3 1/2 inches wide so the deck would still not be as high as the Cub specs say is possible.

you would have too loosen the 3 deck bolts .so that you can lift the deck on to something that is 4 inches tall ,and you will need four of them, lets say soup cans, of equal size .once you do that ,tighten the bolts while the mower deck skin sits flush on the soup cans. now you know that the mower deck on the number 6 will give you 4 .5 inches make sure that the deck drive belt does not touch the mower deck, there is a .5 inch differance from mower skin lip to blade tip.buy the way toro deck settings, the back of mower deck is lower than the front,by a 1/8th of a inch.

thanks for the tips Green Quality! I will try that this weekend. It does look as if the belt may rub on the front bracket or on the deck. I will let you know how it turns out.

I tried the soup can trick. It was going really well at first. I tightened all the adjustment nuts once I had the deck up to four inches on top of the soup cans, but when I took the soup cans out the chute side of the deck dipped down to around 2.5 inches. My father in law walked over to see what I was doing and he investigated with me for a while. We could not see any reason mechanically why that one side wants to dip lower than the other side. The other side was staying perfectly at 4 inches. My father in law is a machine designer with over 30 years experience and if he cannot figure it out I never will. I am afraid I am going to have to break down at take it to the dealer to let them try to fix it. Thanks for all the advise and if there is any more suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

The tractor is only one year old? I'd bring it back to your dealer. i assume you purchased it from him? He should be more than happy to help you out in leveling the deck. He should have much more experience i leveling decks, since he shoudl level the deck on every unit before he sells them, and he would know if there other customers were having a problem with this same model. There could be a quick and easy fix for it. Or you could give the dealer about 5-10 minutes to level the deck.

I bought the tractor used. It is a 1996 and only had 128 hours on it. Before the purchase it was sent to a dealer for an oil change and complete run down. The deck has always been at 2.5 inches high. I don't have a problem leveling the deck, but it will not go up to 4.25 inches on the highest setting. I am going to stop at the dealer tomorrow and talk to him about it. I will post a response after I talk to the dealer to let you know what he says.

I,m sorry to hear that the deck failed to respond to your effort.I have the 2180 should be the same set up! I don't understand why the deck would dip lower on the adjustment side.I should say the 42inch deck is tricky to level,I have leveled this deck many of times .becauseI want to know how to do it.soup can or 2by 4,is a quick way to do it.a tip I got from a john deere dealer, well don't give up. try again !
