deasel pinging

I have a 1720 ford with a 3 cylinder dessel. The engine pings alot. It sounds like two coffie cups banging together. I have owned it for less than a year. it has always done it. seems its louder or more frequent. not relly sure just diffirent. It dosent do it at an idle. any thoughts I'm not very familair wih dissels

Check around the exhaust manifold and muffler for signs of soot. You may have an exhaust leak.

thanks for the help. I cannot find a exost leek. No soot to speek of and i used my hands to feal for a puff of air and found none. I did notice that the tracktor wasen't warming up. When i was looking for the leek after i used the tracktor to relcate some rocks. the engien was still cold. the t stat was stuck open. So i replaced it. It ran perfict. Un till i took off the loader and installed the plow. now it pings. So the blow must have somthing to do with it. May be The hydroliks or somthing. There run off the tracktor. I dont know. To cold to look it now.

if you have some hyds plumbed wrong, you could be getting a squal from a hyd relief valve opening.

so.. no pinging with out that hyd implement hooked up then?

Not sure. The tractor has a relif valve block on the right side witch allows remote connections. The loader uses 3 connections. After reserch and trial and earror I found a combonation that worked. I used an old fisher power angle plow. the 3 connections are, pressure from the pump, feed to the 3 point hitch, and a retern to the transmition. my pluming gose like this. pressure to the plow with a bypass restericted by a ballvalve to the 3 point. The return from the plow valve to the transmition. the plow cannot use all the oil the tractor supplys so the three point gets a little or i cannot drop the blade. Ive played with the ball valve with no luck trying to stop the ping. opean to mutch the blade won't lift. closed to mutch the blade will fall to slow and lift if i rev the engine.
