The best way to deal with spam posts is to simply report them...actually replying to the post only helps to promote them...!

That's only common sense. Never feed the trolls!

Then again "common sense" is gradually fading along with the "baby boomers" generation.

I remember common sense. That was pre-Internet and cell phones. Been on the endangered species list ever since.

OK, what is the procedure for reporting spam posts on this site?

On android app you highlight the post, then click on 3 dots to bring up report. Lots of spam the last few days.

Just click the little gray triangle at the bottom left of the post.

... then write "SPAM" (or whatever you think the post is ie: offensive) as an indicator to TBN administrator of what it's about. Then click the 'submit'.

I will typically post "Reported" in the spam thread to save other members from having to go through the whole process.

Quite a few of the latest batch of spams seem to occur during my evening, which is N.A.'s early morning... it's a pain in the arse reporting them all, but I consider it as my part of the community that is TBN. :)

I reported 3 this morning. But how many reports does it take to get an admin to kill the thread? 1? 5?

Only 1 is needed to get a spam post removed. As for time, it depends on how long it takes one of the moderators to see the spam report and get rid of the spammer.

It's obvious to anyone with common sense, that common sense is acquired thru your own experience or when others communicate their experience to you.

Great, I thought it might have taken multiple complaints. Thus reporting it with a terse reply of "spam" in both the report form and to the actual spam thread should be effective and save the rest of us from multiple click thru.

Crikey! Jeff just reported TEN of them... and thankfully posted 'reported' in each one of them so that others wouldn't have to go through the process of the little triangle.

What do they hope to accomplish around 'here' anyway?

A long time ago I was following the court case of an email spammer. In court, he said something to the effect of for every 250,000 spam emails he sent out, if only ONE person clicked on the link, he broke even. If TWO or more people clicked on the link, he made a profit.
