I saw them and given the family friendly/work safe nature of TBN, I'm not surprised that it was pulled...

I saw where some agree with tape recording and other dont. I will just give a view point form somone that actually hasused a tape recorder in the past and is still know to have one laying around. I have worked a supervisor position for around 30 years, manageing anywheres from two ro three people to 50-60 people on any given day. We are a union job. I had one fellow in particular that just wasnt worth having for anything. Couldnt take orders, beligerate, couldnt stick his finger up his own personal spot. Everytime I would try to explain to how I expected him to do his job, he would mouth off and claim I was discriminating hom becasue he was black. I had lots of other black employees and they never made this claim about me. One day I slipped a tape recorder into my pocket and approached the guy to correct him on some major mistakes he was making. As usuall, he started his bull, cussing, threathing, and simply told me to buzz off. Well I went to my boss about the situation, which I had already done several time in the past. The boss says he will go talk to the guy. Boss calls me a little later to tell me the guy is claiming I said all sorts of things, that wasnt said, he even had three witnesses, all of whom where also black. Wasnt anybody around when around when me and the problem maker talked. boss tells me they are going to have to hold and investigation and that I was going to be held out of service until things where resolved. I asked the boss if he believed what they where claiming and he said he did not, but since they where making the claim and had witness, he had to take action. I asked he he wanted to here what was really said and of course he just said it would be mine word against the other guy and his witness's. Not so fast, I have the conversation on tape. he listened to the tape, laughed and headed back to see the other guy and his witnesses. He took all four of the guys out of service, held and investigation and all 4 guys where dismissed. Union reps couldnt help them keep their jobs as hard as they tried. Now if I hadnt of taped the conversation, It would of been my word against the other four guys and most likely, I would have been fired. Whether or not my taping of the conversation is/was legal, I dont know and dont care, but when it comes to my job or someone else, I will cover my rear any way I can.

My tape player has come in handy on more than one ocassion and any time I think there is going to be some kind of confrontation, I turn it on until the situation changes.

The purchaser where I work used to be the inside sales supervisor. He said she wouldn't listen to him at all but basically would do anything the sales manager asked. He also agreed there's only about 2 people that liked the idea of her coming back. I think she's the typical suck up to management type and to **** with anybody else. In my experience, that can be your downfall. A couple years ago I worked with someone who was much worse. Part of the reason I left that job. It took a while but she was given 3 month's to do the job she was promoted to and then basically let go because she wasn't doing it. The girl I work with now I don't think could ever be promoted to a supervisor. She thinks she has authority but if she actually did, the company would need to install a revolving door cause no one would work under her. The company is building a new shop and will have 2 locations. I'm hoping to stay at the current location and work with the supervisor at the current location. He isn't going to the new location about 1/2 an hour away since he'll probably retire in a year or so. Maybe I could train to be the store manager after he retires? He'll be the general manager. If they made her a supervisor at the new location and I had to work under her, I'd be gone in a heartbeat.
