Thanks for everyone逞エ replys an input on the topic. After much research and talking with my tax lady and visiting my local LS dealer I pulled the trigger on an LS XU6168C late Friday afternoon. The deal was to good to pass up on this 2019. Taxes paid in state! Lol With self leveling larger bucket, 3 remotes, radio with crappy speakers, ag tires widened to one inch shy of bucket width and loaded, free 50hr checkup, rear 3point lever, creeper gear and everything thing else standard on this unit I・ certainly happy with it so far. Again, thx for the help! I知 not seeing an option on my phone app to attach a photo or I would. Y誕ll have a great day

Congrats on the new tractor! That is a nice one indeed!

That is NOT common.
Most states will recognize it if you paid the tax at point of origin.
They will collect the difference though, if there is a difference.

But, the will not refund you if you paid too much in the other jurisdiction. The bums.

Most state laws are pretty similar. I live In NY, I can go to PA and buy a tractor tax free from them but it has to be delivered to NY, if I take possession in PA I pay PA taxes. Now I am supposed to self report the purchase to NY and pay taxes that way. I have bought many cars and boats out of state and never paid sales tax, but ultimately the forcing function to pay taxes in NY was registering those boats and cars. Now states do have some reciprocity taxing deals. For example if I buy something in Maine, NY says im good with them, but NY has few deals in place and the states they do them in place with have high sales tax anyways so its never been worthwhile.

Im not saying what is right or wrong, but unless your using the tractor for commercial reasons I dont see how the state ever finds out, about your little purchase. As far a dealers, you buy a Kubota, any dealer should service it, if they dont I would ensure corporate found out.

Well, I’ll be claiming tractor on my farm taxes so they’ll surely find out. In my case it was pay it now or pay it next yr when I visit the tax lady. I bought instate and payed them upfront. It was only $4,000.

I was audited by the state of Florida once and the only large item they dinged me for was a $40,000 press break that I purchased from out of state, when the auditor was done she told me if she didn't find the sales receipt she would have never caught it.

yeah im not advocating for anybody to one thing or another its a personal choice. With that said if I owned a company doubt I would be playing around. Personal side up to that person I just wouldnt be keeping proof.

Anymore, it doesn't take an audit to end up cross-wise with the revenuers on state use tax. When it comes to big-ticket items, and items delivered by interstate truck freight or by a dealer in a neighboring state, whether or not you keep the sales receipt won't matter. Excerpting from post #27:

"As for whether getting tagged is likely, as state budgets get tighter and out-of-state purchases become more common, tax authorities are getting much more aggressive. Big-ticket items like heavy equipment and machinery are high-profile targets. Keep in mind that shipping manifests, purchase orders and sales invoices don't enjoy any privilege of privacy. Dealers operating near state lines, and most interstate trucking companies (think shipments of equipment like tractor implements), frequently are requested to cooperate with state tax authorities by providing copies (or digital data) disclosing sales and deliveries to residents in the inquiring state. I know of a number of instances where folks have gotten large use tax bills two or three years after the fact for purchases they thought were "tax free"! So much for the trade off for the inconvenience, and perhaps risk, of buying a tractor from a remote dealer in another state."

Pard, are you not eligible for the Louisiana exemption for farm tractors?

Like I said I'm not telling anybody what to do, or how I would do it. But I also dont worry about ripping tags of pillows and blankets either.
