Dealer Waranty Repair - Turnaround Time

What is the 'normal' turn around time for a warranty repair at a dealer? I realize that this is not a new Ford truck etc but I am not sure what is normal for a tractor dealer. I have a new (4 month old) Kubota BX2330. I am having my battery cover gasket fixed and the hydrostatic tranmission creep adjusted. They are also going to look at why the 3pt lever doesn't reset after it goes to the top.

This Wednesday it will be 3 weeks. I told them no rush and the dealer is picking up and delivering the tractor for free but that still seems like a long time. I had to call last Friday to see what was going on since they never called to update me. I am glad this wasn't right in the middle of my Summer when I need it most or I would be even more impatient.

3wks seems like a good bit of time. i wonder if they had to order some parts for the tranny.

Usually dealers will work on tractors that are used for making a living first, and then the homeowners tractors come next. This makes sense because the farmer is going to be buying more tractors over time than a homeowner. Having said that, 3 weeks is not a normal turn around time for even a homeowner tractor. If they started work on it, and needed parts, that shouldn't take more than a couple of days to get. If it is a large tractor dealership, they might have just forgotten about the tractor being in for repairs. When you deliver the tractor for service, they will write a repair order. When they picked it up, the repair order might have been forgotten. Unless they are extremely busy, small repairs such as yours usually are done quickly just to get the machine out of the way.
Consider yourself lucky. I heard of a large tractor dealership that had a machine in for repairs that got parked near the used tractors. It was sold as a used tractor and the mistake wasn't figured out till the owner came for his machine.

I had warrenty work done and told them to pick it up when it was good for them. Got it back in about 4 days. But it sat at my house 2 weeks before they picked it up.

That is defiantly on the long side especially if they aren't having problems getting a part. I would give them a call or go by to find out what is going on. Keeping a customer up to date on what is going on when their tractor is in the shop is one thing that many dealers need to work on.

Free pick up and delivery? I will assume they will deliver when they have another tractor in the area. Be patient.

If you allow a week for parts to arrive. I would say ten days is fair. IMO. My dealer offered me a loaner during upcoming warranty work. I don't really need it but I accepted, hoping that it will inspire him to improve on the 4 week turnaround time for the initial sale.

I would bet that they forgot about it. If they don't call you after 1-2 days, then you should call them. Not to be a pain, but to get an update of what was found and a schedule.

Update- They said it will be delivered today. I got a call back frorm the dealership owner after I called to ask for a status on it.

Next time (I hope there will not be a next time), I will call and get an ETA after they have had it a day or two.

To me that means I'll work on it when I have nothing else pressing to do.
