A local dealer has a 2002 TC29D for sale. It has 153 hours on it and is very clean. Equipped with a Boxer cab and 7308 FEL. Unit has SS and is hydro transmission. I had it priced with a new rear mount 60" snowblower. Dealer's best price is $20,000 + tax. I know the "luxury" cab adds some value but the price seems out of line to me. Any comments? I have a hard time accepting that price on a used unit.

Welcome to TBN and the Blue Forum :D! I do not know what part of the country where you live, but prices for tractors fluctuate widely in different regions. The NE appears to have the highest prices. The price seems a little high even by NE standards (but not much based on what I paid for mine new), but you are getting a lot of tractor with essentially "breakin" hours, cab, SS, HST, a solid FEL, and a 60" snowblower thrown in. I would not walk away from this opportunity just yet. The "29" is a very solid/tough tractor. Just keep in mind that with the 153 hours on it it has hopefully been 50 hour serviced and everything works. The more I think about it the better this deal sounds so I am closing. Please fill in your profile and tell us more about your location, property, terrain, anticipated projects, short and long term projects, and the membership of TBN will help you spend your hard earned money . Keep the posts coming- Jay :)

I just priced out a Boxer Cab for my tractor and a base hard body cab would run around $4850 . Your deal is looking better and better :). Jay

Yeah, I found the Boxter site online this AM and configured a hard cab similar to the one on the tractor. I came up with a similar price.

I'll have to get into my account and update it later. For now, I'm in SE Wisconsin surrounded by farm country so the dealers are mainly small AG dealers. My use would be general landscaping and maintenance on a 5+ acre semi-wooded lot. Our drive is about 700' long, unpaved, so snow removal could be the primary use. I need to haul some rock for a dry creek bed and I may need to do some cultivating for a prairie restoration.

Thanks for all the input. I'm looking forward to finding and buying a tractor for my projects.

BTW - Thanks for the welcome!

I recently sold my TC21D, and the guy who purchased it first went to the local NH dealer to check on pricing and one of the units he priced was a TC26DA, The TC26 with a FEL and 60" MMM was qoted at 19,000. So it would appear your TC29D deal is a good one. 153 hours on a 5 year old tractor is hard to believe. I average about 125 hours per year.

Best wishes

I averaged around 50 hours/year with my old Ford; I am/was averaging 75 hours/year of real work time on my "29". This deal is getting better and better :D!- Jay

I bought a Case DX29 about 2 1/2 years ago at A-plan pricing -- dealer cost. I had them add a grapple and the plumbing to go with it plus a set of rear hydraulic valves. My price new was less than your quote, but as noted, that cab is worth at least $3500-$4000 used and I would put the snowblower above $1000, although I wouldn't want one that badly when a blade will do. I have just over 200 hours on my tractor.

If you need a cab and will never need to have a short tractor to clear garage doors and such, that sounds like a good price. Spend one winter clearing a lot of snow on cold windy days and you will be very happy to have the cab on there. Spend one summer doing a lot mowing on hot sunny days and you will be very happy to have the cab. I live in the woods on the lee of a hill, so neither of the above applies and I'm pretty happy without the cab. Besides, I would have ripped it apart 20 or 30 times by now going into the barn, the garage, or under branches. It's bad enough when I forget to lower the ROPS!

Thanks again for all the replies. This winter my drive drifted severely but one side was reconfigured when the final grading was done. I'm not sure a blade would have been enough. I do like the idea of a heated cab but the ~$4000 it added to the price is making me hesitant. The tractor with cab and FEL would be $18500 firm and the blower is 1500. Add WI tax and I'm looking at $21120 for a 5 year old tractor with no warranty. From what I've read here the tractor is reliable but the unit came in from North Dakota and I don't know if the dealer has servicing history on it.

I'm going to keep it on my wish list but I'll keep shopping for now.
