Any body done any business with Lawson Building supply in RoseHill Va, I have spoken to them a couple of time and got a good delivered price, thier about 85 miles away from me, seem to be on the up and up,I just had another dealer kinda bashing them, about how unorganized they are in parts, takes them forever, bad service center, charge a big pick-up and dropoff bill if thier is any problems with the tractor, so was seeing if their was any body that has bought a tractor from them, the deal I'm workin on is a new unit from the warehouse, yaa OCD I've seen a couple on the lots around that were faded real bad and the seat was chalkey white, so about 1500.00 more for a fresh one it looks like, B3030w folding rops, turf tires(Loaded), LA 403, 60"MMM, $19700 delivered,

I think I'd be wary of a dealer who starts bashing another dealer. Have you discussed pickup and delivery fees, parts availability, etc., with Lawson?

I've bought 6 from Barlows in the past 5 years. His price and service have been unbeatable for me.

I was with in days of buying from lawson's when a unbeatable deal came about on a used tractor that I couldn't pass up, so I did not end up buyinh from them, however they were very good to work with and have 3 or 4 close friends who have bought from them and couldn't be more satisfied. Great service before and after the sale. I was looking at a bx1860 and they were about 3000 cheaper then the kubota store here in kingsport.

First Post, I have been looking on here for the last couple of months while in search of a tractor. Last week I purchased a new Kubota L3940HST with a loader from Dubberly Tractor in Chester, VA just south of Richmond. They are a new Kubota dealer but they have been selling and working on tractors since the 60's. They saved me quite a bit of money, they were even cheaper than Carver Equipment in NC. Really nice people and real easy to deal with. Plus they delivered the tractor and put fluid in the rear tires for me for free. I would highly recommend that you call them. Let me know how your search goes.

Mr. CGreenway...I'm a little confused, now. Which Rose Hill? There are three in MapQuest. There are two good dealerships within easy range of Rose Hill in Fairfax where Mr. Newbury lives...Byrd and Dickinson. I'm guessing you're in Lee County? May help the discussion...

It is Lawson's Building supply in Rose Hill Va., (may not exactly be in RoseHill but thats what mapquest shows me,) I live in Tennessee about 80miles away from their, but they have gave me the best price so far and 700.00 less than the next lowest price, plus cheaper tax in VA, so another plus, just checking for references weither anybody has dealt with them, seems up and up and very easy to deal with, just never been to his dealership, just over the phone to take care of it all and they will deliver to me for free, suppose to call me this week with the delivery info. and finals,

Not to be posting a sales pitch, but I may be parting with my 2007 B3030. Has everything but the turf's....R-4's plus a brush hog and rfm and only 56 hours!

PM me if interested.

I would recommend Merchant's Kubota, in Flat Rock, VA about 20 miles west of Richmond on RT 60. Mike Merchant is a great guy and honest. I bought 2 tractors from him, and on my second one he gave me a trade in value on my old one that was about a $1000 less than I had originally paid for it. They can work on them also, but I,ve never had a problem with the tractor,s. RTV 1100 now that is a different story. I live in WY now, and is where I bought my RTV, I wish I was dealing with Mike out here because I know he would make things right. Bob

Not very Far??
I thought

I live 2 miles south of Rose Hill, Va, Fairfax County :)
565 mile from Barlow :(
Then I looked up Rose Hill w/ Lawson - and that's only about 110 miles.

*Darn I wish it was closer :)
Thsy deliver about all over the country.

Unfortunate thing, this trend. I deal with identical issues in my Nitro Powered R/C Car hobby. This is the issue:

The internet is cheaper. Always will be. A guy that sells 10 tractors at 1/10th the profit as a brick-and-mortar store's 1 tractor makes the same amount of money. To compete, the brick-and-mortar store must put THEIR profits in the toilet, otherwise they lose all their sales to the other guy(s).

I own a business that has nothing to do with tractors or R/C cars and I can tell you, I don't do it for the sheer joy of working 16 hours every day. I do it to make a little bit of money. If my business was "degraded" by guys that intentionally undercut me all day long, I'd just give up. No point. I'm not doing this for free.

Then where will we be? Not able to go to a local dealer to get a part? Nowhere to take your tractor to have it serviced? Need to ship it from NH to NM because that's where you got it from?

I'm not saying it is any dealer's right to overcharge for their product merely because they exist. Do your research. Go to your local dealer. If he is within a reasonable amount (5%? 3%?), buy the machine from him, for goodness sake. If you save $400 going with a dealer 543 miles away and your local dealer goes out of business because EVERYONE is going to a dealer 543 miles away, guess where you'll be stuck going for all your parts, hats, and service? You guessed it...543 miles.

Just something to think about.

Keithinspace, there is a lot in what you say. If you have a good dealership near you they can give you support that you will not appreciate until you need it. Sometimes you don't even realize it at the time. Yet, local dealerships go out of business for many many reasons.

Absolutely 1,000% agree. My only point is to make an ATTEMPT to use your local dealer.

I bring up about my hobby store...internet price cutting is rampant in the R/C industry. My local hobby store will probably go out of business at the end of the year...only one in Fredericksburg that stocks nitro car parts. My only alternative, then, is Manassas or Richmond, either one well over an hour away, depending. If I break a simple part, I'm out of luck for DAYS while I order the part and wait for it to come in. Or I pay a sick shipping fee for overnight.

Sure, there are any number of reasons folks go out of business. Just interjecting the value of supporting local business with your purchases. If you like them being there, try to buy from them. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM BEING THERE, well, I guess that's the other answer.

I check with Merchants Kubota, they told me,that he would half to order one, and their is a price increase coming in a week to 10 days and it would be about 3 weeks before he could get one, and he would half to wait and see what the price was gonna be after the increase before he could tell me:confused:?, and I thought buyin a new car was a pain in the b:mad:t, just got one more quote coming from Barlow, and then I will seal the deal,

I have a buddy that lives 5 minutes from Davis and Merchant and bought a tractor there. He threatened my life if I went there. He said their service and support are horrible.
