My 2001 tc40d hst is dead. There are no dash light and it doesn't turn over. There is no clicking or electrical , relay noises. I have checked all the fuses including the 40amp main. I also moved the relays around, I wish the manual had more information about what relay is what.
The switch appears to be functioning correctly. Although the symptoms point to it.
There is strong power at the starter motor.
I have last checked the battery leads. They appear ok on a visual inspection. They maybe a cheap try.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Bob

Can't say for sure on your model, but many NH compacts have a fusible link that feeds the dash and switches, It's usually a red wire 12 gauge or so, with what looks like a plastic connector in it. Will be on the starter post with pos cable from battery, and if it blows, no power gets to key switch or lights.

You might want to really check your battery, and then battery cables could have rotted inside the casing and you would not see that. Be sure your battery cables are good and connection is tight with no corrosion...

Good points...
I do have power to the switch.
The cable do not appear to have any corrosn on them but perhaps under the plastic coating and the battery is new.
Thanks

Had that happen on my old Kubota. Cables "looked" fine, but were corroded up under the insulation...

I believe it was my battery cables. I was able to jump start the tractor tonight past the battery cables and it started right up. I will replace the cables later in the week. It really is amazing. They look perfectly good.
Robert, I miss El Dorado County. It was a great place to live.
Thanks everybody for the input.

Since you jumpered at the battery and it worked fine, were your jumper leads attached to the outside of both terminals. If so, you have corrosion inside the terminal between the terminal and battery post. If you jumpered positive to the terminal and negative to the tractor's frame, you could have a dirty or loose ground terminal where it attaches to the frame.
