Darn! Great restaurant closing! :-(

Closings announced all the time citing long career and owner retiring or rent increase or location issues with crime, parking, etc.

My favorites are no more…

Nearby, several very popular venues never reopened post pandemic…

I read it, thinking the OP was going to tell us he'd bought the place!

Funny how that works sometimes. The spam post reported amd deleted, then it looks like the next poster in line bumped an old thread.
The owner is well into his 90s and had to close because unfortunately he never bought the building. We patronize lots of restaurants but know nothing of the business.
Restaurants are really strange and I'm sure it's the same everywhere but there's a similar one to this one that closed only about 8 miles away. The difference is although similar the quality isn't good, but it's always busy (fantastic location).
Then there's an excellent soul food place that was in a bad part of town...then she moved actually closer to us, so we went there. Closed. Hours are crazy: Closed weekends & evenings. Open Wed., Thurs., Fri. 11am-2:30.
Edit: I checked their website and they're closed Mon. only & open 11am-7pm now!

That's a real bummer when a favorite spot shuts down. It reminds me of how mcdonalds reviews can vary so much depending on the location. Some branches are top-notch, while others might not meet expectations. It's always a gamble when trying a new one. Hopefully, another great place pops up nearby to fill the gap.
