Thank You for the update, good info to have should it happen to me. In your opinion, is this an item best left to a shop, (special skills, tools, etc)?

$354.17. The majority was labor and transport. With a replaced O ring and some replacement fluid. They said getting the unit out was time consuming. It looked like several steps in the manual. Considering transport and labor I am satisfied with the price. I should get it back Monday. I guess bad things happen to good tractors.:)

Not bad for a pick up and labor, Hopefully the last of this stuff for you,

I don't think special tools or skills, just PITA to take apart to get it out. I thought the price was pretty fair.

That's not bad for a repair, could have been worse, though that's still some decent cash. My question is, if it happened again, would you try to fix it or not?

Any reason the O-ring gave, or just a random occurrence?

That price sounds fair, IMO. It looks like (in this newer version) the entire steering unit must be removed and all the parts have to come out the bottom; that seal (near the top) was nearly the last part in the stack. Assuming it's all good when you get it back, I'd be pleased with that dealer. The service manual shows disassembly of the unit in some detail but it looks intimidating to me. Plus (without experience or a hotline to Kioti) how would you be sure you got the right replacement O-ring, considering the old one would likely be deformed (compressed, swelled, etc.). I think you done good here. And thanks for the feedback: symptoms, cause, correction, and cost.

Not sure why it popped. I dunno, I am back with a full time job now, so I think I would let the dealer do it.

How many hours on it?

You may need seal savers and the o-ring may be square cut which weans you need to know what you're looking at in order to rebuild.
