I have this cardnial that sees his reflection in the house windows.

For several hours a day, it'll attack its reflection in the glass.
The sound is very annoying but what's worse is the fact that on each attack, the bird seems to poop on next landing. Well, the next landing is either the grill, snow shovel or wood tub.

Besides 8 shot from a Mossberg 500, is there any way I can either get this bird to go away or stop these persistent attacks?

Thanks

Puts me in mind of an old Red Green show. The bird feeder should be hung on the outside of the glass for best results. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Try taping the attached picture to the window...

Call your local animal control. They'll give you some answers. Gerard

Hey Don,

Where did you get the picture of me??? I could post a self portrait.

Attached is a picture of my bird dog but he just doesn't seem to care about this cardinal.

Now that there is funny...

I now see the error in my ways.

After a few days if you're not getting results from the first picture I posted...replace it with this one. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have been living with the same problem for years now, except that it is robins. I tried taping paper in front of the window, but they just try another window. I was told to tape a outline of an owl on the glass and that did nothing. When the last one broke his neck hitting the glass, it stopped until another took its place. I believe that the bird sees the reflection and believes that it is another bird trying to compete for his mate, and he is trying to drive it away. If you find the nest and destroy it, the female will move to another area and the male will follow. This was the advice of the people at the Bird Sanctuary.

ROFLMAO!!! That's a good one.

Junk - I do have a good guess as to where the nest is. I think I'll find and remove. Haven't seen a female around. Are they nesting yet?

Gerard - Forgot to reply to yours. We don't have an animal control dept. The police department handles it. Historically I've found that besides pets and bears, their remedy is that we should take the Mossberg approach for nuisance critters.

Be VERY discreet with any shooting of songbirds, very illegal, but sometimes the only soloution.
