No. It's a matter of displacement.

The rod area is subtracted fro the available surface for the hydraulic pressure to act on. So retracting is a little weaker.

Power the same, force and speed different, extend slower with higher force....

I think he meant force in lbs. The force is less in retract mode

thanks. I'll check it against my rusty math. I'm comming up with 13K #'s of pull with a 3" bore and 1.5" rod at 2500#..
