I just bought A mitsubishi D2000 tractor runs great just seem to get what seems to be some oil spitting out of the exhaust..seems to happen after I operate it after awhile.any ideas
hard to say all I know is i get some drops on the hood and sometimes on me it is a mess for sure.....What is soot from and how do you stop it? i do keep the exhaust covered when not in use..this is my first tractor...
My bet is black water. It is nearly impossible to keep condensate out of exhaust systems. Take a look at your auto exhaust after a cold start. Black water. The stuff from a diesel might be a bit more oily in appearance and feel. Might be a leaky valve or a cracked head too?
Gray/white smoke is common on a diesel engine. It's just unburnt fuel. There is also not much you can do about soot either. It's a byproduct of combustion. Even if you drill a hole in the bottom of the pipe condensation will still condense on the interior walls of the pipe, usually near the top since it's the coldest part of the pipe and some will be blown out the end. It's just part of owning a diesel engine.
thanks for all the info it is my first tractor and my first diesel I am pretty excited about owning it just want to be sure I take care of it and address any problems before they become serious
Diesel exhaust can have a acrid scent at times. What is "burnt rubber" to you might be something else to a different nose. If it was idle for some time there is a fair chance that some form of civilization was taking root in there and you incinerated it.
