Allis d14
I recently purchased an allis d14. In order to plumb for a loader someone put a tee in the input line of the 3 pt. They did put a shut off valve after the tee to disable the 3 pt. With out closing this valve, the 3 pt & loader operate with the 3pt. control on the steerin column. I would like to install another valve to control the loader. Could someone give me some direction as to what I need or where to go for help. Thanx, Lee

Im probably going with a double or triple valve to control everything if you can do that

Why notuse a joystick valve to control the loader like this.

Surplus Center - 2 SPOOL COMPACT 10 GPM JOYSTICK CONTROL VALVE

It has float and BP capability.

Your hyd flow might go something like this. Pump to input of FEL valve, PB out to a remote set of valves if you choose to install them, and then to 3pt.

Should you need a grapple later, you can use the rear remotes or add a diverter valve in the curl circuit.

I'm in the same boat as you with my allis. J_J, will a joystick work with the single acting system that the D14 has?

Any DA valve will work, just plug the B work port.

Does your loader use a SA or DA cyl?

It has DA cylinders and the unused side has a breather installed.

If, as you say that it is a DA cyl, then just use both work ports and run two hoses from the valve work ports to the cyl, and if you use the valve that I suggested, you will have float and regen.

A much better setup in my opinion.

Sorry, leeandamie8675 for hijacking you post but it may help both of us.

How will that work with the control lever on the column? Currently I have a selector valve in the line from the pump before it goes to the 3PH. From one of the ports it goes the the 3PH and the other goes to the loader cylinders. I use the column lever to raise (gravity lower) which ever one I want. There is no return line back to the pump. I would love to be able to operate the 3PH and loader independently of each other. Thanks for you help J_J !

To operate independent of each other you will likely need an auxiliary pump mounted to the front of the engine or the pto of the tractor. Most of those D series AC's had an engine mounted pump out the front, if you look at the grille on the front you will notice a knockout that can be punched out to run a shaft to the engine and there are holes on the front steering box casting to mount it. This was the ideal setup for that tractor so with the foot clutch in the pump will still run (vs a PTO pump). Typically the engine mounted pump used the loader frame as a hydraulic reservoir. I don't think with the current tractor hydraulic pump and capabilities that it will run a loader in a way to satisfy you, I've been all over a D14 and I don't know how you could plumb it to make it a double acting setup and still have your 3pt usable without using the loader or closing or opening a series of valves.

If he installs an aux PTO pump, and run the output through a joystick valve as suggested, the loader will be independent of any other hydrulics.

Just use your 3pt as you use it now.

Thanks guys! I had a feeling that I need to go that route.

another question, what series is it?
some of the early series used a high pressure/low flow system where the later series were normal pressures like a late model tractor.
IIRC the early system was not compatible with late model implements. and vice versa.

EDIT; this might not apply, I was thinking it was similar to the D17.

Lets back up here and see what you want to do?

What do you have and what do you want to do with any new hydraulics.. You say you have DA cyl's, and if so, then you can have power down and float and regen if you choose the correct valve..

So if you want an independent hyd system for the DA cyl's, then you need a pump, valve, and a reservoir.

Just use what yo have for the 3pt.

Do you have any idea of volume and pressure developed by the pump on your hyd system now?

I am running a 3 GPM pump, 3000 psi off of my fan belt.

You can do the same, and the pump is inexpensive.
