It wouldn't matter what position the curl cylinders were in if you tap the primary feed to the lift cylinders before the split and after the control.

The curl position changes how far from the lift arm the center of the load is. Rolled all the way back is a slightly shorter lever.

Yes. AND the load itself is not going to have a center-of-gravity perfectly centered over the COG of the
bucket or pivot point. That is why crane scales are suspended from a point.

If you look on Ebay, you will often see used dynamometers in the $50 - 100 range.

on a loader the weight will be approximate, as the length of the center of the weight can change, as stated, but if you are just seeing if the bucket of dirt is not going to over load your truck or how much the fire wood weight's or how much hay for the cattle, most likely it is good enough, but but if you want to know very close your going to have to use a single pint unit like a hanging scale type, so the weight center is the same regardless,
