Hi all!

I am doing my 50 hour maintenance this weekend. I changed the front axle fluid yesterday after work, thinking that would be quick and easy. It would have been quicker if I hadn't stopped to cuss out the engineers.
I realized it would get a little messy when I noticed the placement of the drain plugs, but aside from tucking a spade shovel under the tire to catch the excess (dirt driveway, I didn't poke at the tire), and various methods to get the fluid from A to B, none of my ideas really worked well. I'm just curious, as an afterthought, how others have handled this.

While I'm here, I am questioning the hydraulic filter change. I have the backhoe attachment, and I don't want to take it off just for that, but the height seems limited for a quick swap. I'm sure this is going to sound stupid, but what do you think is the best method for lifting the machine a bit (safely)? Would jack stands or ramps be okay? I also have a hill to flat spot that might work with chocking, but that makes me nervous.
I watched Baznasty Dave's video and I'd like to try that shop vac trick to hold the fluid back a bit.

Now I'm off to buy a filter wrench. I haven't done my own tune ups since they did away with distributor caps (yes, I'm that old!), and yesterday I remembered how much I hate wrenching anyway.

TIA for any and all advice!

Why not have the dealer service your tractor right at your place? Talk with and watch the technician to learn how to do some of the regular maintenance. Tackle the job yourself the next time….😉

Skip the filter wrench and get a large set of channel locks for the filters.

Greetings, new member here. I am curious to know if you refilled the front axle with hydraulic fluid that originally came with the tractor from the dealer or did you put regular gear oil? I have seen numerous youtube videos of owners refilling the front axle with 75-90w synthetic or 80-90w regular gear oil. I am a new owner of a CK3520 Kioti tractor and I am a little confused why the tractor originally came with hydraulic fluid. Maybe just for break in? I am still waiting to get the tractor from the dealer so I don't even have the owners manual yet. Thanks for any reply.

They did it for ease of assemly. I'm not sure how much I'm gonna worry about it right now, for mine. Maybe not at all. Some people like to run High Viscosity lubricants but I'm not one of them.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is

The UTF is very similar in viscosity to the 80w-90 gear oil.
I personally prefer higher viscosity gear lubes in the front axel, as well as in gear boxes.
