Recently bought a box blade online, described as having curved rear cutting edges but now it's delivered they are actually flat plates angled at about 45 degrees to the ground. Not tried it yet but seen online everything attachments saying the cutting edges should be curved for soil work and creating shallow ditches. Am I likely to find a straight blade not up to the job?

Curved blades roll the dirt better and cut sod better. Think of a hollow ground knife blade. They both work, but the curved are easier to control when taking thin passes and flattening bumps.

cheers, I may get a blacksmith to make me up a curved blade although as the back support for the blade is flat it will probably need to be a curve made out of 3 flat sections. Will try the flat blade for what I had intended and see how I get on :) Based in the UK and we have nothing like the variety of attachments that seem to be available in the US.

Might be a curved moldboard rather than the actual curved blade.
