Cutter Bar VS Tooth Bar

I figure a $180.00 bar is cheaper than a dented/knicked up FEL bucket. Mine is the HD one but i load my dumptruck fairly often with rock and some are pretty large --bucket size. What's the difference in the two used for? Also, does any one know the cost and part # for the front grill guard to fit a TC 40D.

Hi Steve........I own both the tooth bar and cutter bar. I use the tooth bar for digging. The cutter bar is used where I want to leave it smooth or leave a clean surface (as on a concrete pad, etc). For rock I would use my tooth bar. I also own the grille guard. I don't know the part # but I recall paying 80 to 100 for it.

Steve, the grill guard part number is 719849006. Mine was priced at $229, but you might get a better deal. An important consideration about getting the NH guard is that it is compatible with NH suitcase weights also. If you have a loader, you probably don't need the weights, but if you remove the loader, you may need them. I've attached a photo of my tractor with the grill guard installed. If you look closely, you will see the cutter bar mounted on my loader bucket. It was $179 and is really worth the money. I'll also be getting a toothbar soon. NH's toothbar won't fit over the cutter bar, but there is a third-party brand which will. I like the cutter bar for the extra strength and the toothbar for digging.

Who makes the toothbar that fits over our cutting bar? I'd like one myself.

For about $300 for a 72" bucket or about $250 for a 60" bucket, you should contact KC Canary @ 1-800-920-7097. Ask for Mark Bruckner and give him the details. I have not bought from him yet, but everyone I talk to says he will give you the best deal and he sells a toothbar which will fit over the cutter bar. You may need to make some measurements related to the hole pattern and such, but he can surely tell you more.
