Thanks guys!The L/60 was my first custom, just wanted to see if I could do it! I'd had the little 60 lawn tractor for a couple years, picked up an old R72 RER at a flea market for the engine. Rear wheels are hubs from a 110/112 that I had the splines bored out & keyway cut at the local machine shop. Rims tires are 6 x 12", rear fenders are trailer fenders. Front wheels are 6" wheelbarrow rims w/bearings added, tri-rib "tedder" tires. The idea was to look (somewhat) like a JD model "62" or unstyled "L".
The 317 Special started with a parted out 317 from an area scrap yard auction, $40. The engine is an 18 HP Kohler Command from a scrapped Miller welder, $200, that's when I quit keeping track of the cost! Stretched the frame 28-1/2" with part of another frame, machine shop made me a new driveshaft. Hydraulic lines were stretched using hoses. Front fenders are trailer fenders that turn with the wheels. Seat was made w/ 2- aftermarket two-cylinder seat cushion sets. Working saddle tanks are SS fire extinguishers, plus the original tank under the bed. Oak bed is native White Oak from our farm. It's used exclusively for shows & parades.
The 70 I (industrial) was a partial tractor I bought as a pair for this project, the complete one in the picture was later sold after I found a JD 100 to restore.
Repowered with a 12-1/2 HP Briggs from an MTD "Yardman". Just wanted one with the "Industrial" look. It does most of my towing around the property. ~~ grnspot
