I'm new here but wanted to start sharing some of my projects. Here are a few pics of the radio/speaker box I have mounted on my JD 4300. I got the idea out from my dealer who had the same set-up but wanted 139.99 for it. This one cost me less the 50 bucks. I got the speaker box from Fred's for 14.99. I don't see how they build stuff that cheap. I know it may fall apart in a year from now, but for 15 bucks who cares. I cut the hole out for the radio then mounted it to the canopy. You really can hear the radio good and still hear everything that goes on around you when you are playing; I mean working....

What is the toggle switch on the left side of the radio for?

BTW, nice install.

It's my main power cut-off. I didn't like the idea of the radio having juice all the time.

Thanks,
JH

So what exactly are the proper tractor work tunes? Do you play something different depending on what kind of tractor work you're doing?

(Nice installation, by the way.)

It seems to me that Kenny Chesney's "She thinks my tractors sexy" would be appropriate.

My "radio" is a set of Peltor 'Work Tunes' my daughter bought me for my birthday a couple years ago. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think they were about $60 back then and I just love them. They're comfortable with good sound quality. I like the idea of a 25db NRR so I can hear the radio while protecting my hearing. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

With an externally mounted radio I'd have to blast it's volume over the noise from my diesel engine. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I hate to sound like an old fart, but, since I AM an old fart, I guess I'm entitled. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif You might want to check into some kind of hearing protection. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree Gary........I have 2 sets of them, one even in blue to match the tractor. I bought that one at an outlet store for $20, couldn't pass it up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

AND they can be used on more than one tractor

Do those headphones cut out all outside noise??

I've thought about buying them, since I need music bad when I'm working, but I don't like the idea of not hearing whats going on around me. For one sound feedback from the tractor is important and if someone has to yell to you they're out of luck.
