A dealer quoted me a price of $800 to have new l5460 tires (rear) filled with Rimguard. That sounds higher than I was expected, has it gone up that much recently?


One poster said his tubeless tires actually slipped on the rim using Rimguard. And I read that some tire places will only fill tube tires to contain the mess......

In reading posts about tube vs tubeless when filling, I like the sound of the potential ability of repairing a puncture with tubeless.

Mine were $500(16.9 x 28 R1 tires) if that gives you any reference. That was a year ago...

I have not pulled the trigger on my Grand L but they quoted me around the same price plus another $200 for pickup/drop off at my house.

I had my tires slip on the rims. It was more the fact the pressure was low than the rimguard. I can't clear the rimguard from my valve stem very well and I don't want that stuff going in my tire gauge, so I just guess on the tire pressure.

From the inside of a tire...... It don't matter what color the tractor is....
So I did it myself to fill my tubeless R4s (22 gallon each) with anti freeze and windshield washer fluid.
The concentration I felt I needed for my cold winters the materials, valve stem adapter, and a 12V bilge pump all cost less than $90.......
I don't seem to miss the small increase in weight per gallon of other products...

In that price I also bought a "wet" style tire pressure gauge that I keep in a plastic jar of water to keep anything from gumming it up...
I take the jar in the house in winter......

I can't say I've ever used a pressure gauge on a loaded tire, I've always set it where the tread is just touching all the way across...

I've never had a problem with the tires slipping on the rim, but I tend to run higher pressure than most.


I paid about $4 per gallon if I remember correctly. It pays to call around though, as another dealer I checked with was over $7 per gallon less than an hour away!
