Curious about the MF 1428 HST

My neighbor has a 1428 gear, and swear's that he could never be happier whit is tractor. Now I have been looking at a other brand. But must admit he got my attention on how well is tractor been performing, now this guy been around tractor's all his life,and tell's me that I should look closely at the 1428 GEAR or HST . Any owner's out there that would take the time to share their experience with the 1428 or with similar MF tractor size.... cag

I have a 1428v HST and love the thing. It's been able to handle all i've thrown at it. I brush hog 6 acres with it. I've used it to clear show via a rear blade. It was a huge help when we water proofed my barns foundation - it moved tons of gravel.

What will you be doing with the tractor?

Gary here is what I would be using the tractor for... Box blade, FEL work,Snow removal,and also have some Backhoe work. WE have Two properties' one of them being on a Iland.I have been looking closely at the GC2310 and CK20 but would not want to be underpowered this is why I'm looking at tractor's size in the MF 1428 class, I must admit I really like the CK25 and 30, but fell I should look closely at the MF. Finally I would like to know the weight of the 1428... cag

I could have looked at mahindra closer but the kioti dealer was too far away. I had started my search with the gc2310 and kubota bx but settled on the 1428v because I wanted the extra hp to pull a 5' brush hog. In the end I'm really glad I did. the extra hp, ground clearance and weight really make a difference.

according to the massey specs, the 1428v hyrdo is 2345lbs. I had the rear tires filled for extra weight and stability.

I have a 1428v geared tractor (as compared to HST) and I have been extremely happy with the tractor. I test drove other HST models and I personaly liked the manual shift. I have had no problems what so ever with this transmission.

Gary, Red, I'm looking closely at tractor weight, it turn's out this will be very important in my use. The land where our cottage is located as very soft ground, so now the lighter tractor will definitely have a greater impact on my purchase.... cag

I think you'll find that the 1428v is one of the heaviest in it's class.

Maybe you should look at the GC3210 or the Kubota BX line

Gary started with the BX don't like it, kioti CK20, MFGC2310 TLB like these tractor, but don't want to be underpowered, started to look at the kioti CK30hst but at 3055LBS very heavy compared to the MF 1428.. I'm glad I have some time before I buy because at this time I haven't made my choice yet, as for the brand, it's KIOTI or MF. I tried to check out the GC3210 but was unable to get into the MF web site... cag

JD I check these brand's and I have no doubt on there reliability... My problem with these brand are the dealer's that stand behind them...cag
