Cub Cadet Z Force S 48
I have a Cub Cadet Z-Force-S 48 that has good straight speed. Turning sharp is very slow. If I move the steering wheel a bit more to straight it will go faster. Going around trees is a nightmare. It seams like this is getting worse and worse over time. I don't see and adjustment or particularly worn linkage. Anyone have a clue what the fix might be?

Dietrich,

I'm not entirely certain this idea will display the problem area, but if you were to get the mower in the air with all 4 wheels off the ground (make sure its safely supported on jack stands), with the engine running and you on the seat (to activate the starting and PTO), does the issue show up on a sharp turn of the steering wheel? (with the blades running and without?) Be sure to try both turning directions.

Does this mower have a differential lock? That locks the 2 drive wheels together for traction but makes it very difficult to turn. If it has one maybe it's stuck on.

They do slow down to facilitate the turn. Why does one change is the question. Will it slow equally when turning either direction? I rarely work on these but have had to work out the kinks in an older model of these before. There was a balance adjustment to which you put a line up pin and reset the linkage evenly if it is the same. I would too look at things like the traction belt, that the brakes are free and the tow valves are in the proper position. You will want to look for a manual. Post the model number from the tag if you could.

Dietrich - Sorry I don't have an answer to your question but I would like your feedback on the z-force. Would you buy it again? I am seriously looking at the S/SX 48 and that is allot of cash to drop $4100/$5500 if they don't meet expectations.
