Cub cadet rzt electrical issues

Started out as a weak crank. Replaced bad battery that wouldn't hold a charge, also replaced the starter solenoid. I have 12.5 volts at the battery and at the post on the solenoid. I have 10.5 volts at the connection on the solenoid coming from the switch when the key is turned. If I turn the key though nothing happens. If I cross the posts on the terminal the motor will roll over but I cant get any spark. Absolutely suck at electrical so I'm at a loss. Any help much appreciated.

No spark is a safety switch. I'd check the ground connection since solenoid doesn't engage with key. You'll have safeties on the drive handles, parking brake and seat switch. Make sure they all work and if still nothing, I'd replace the PTO switch. Safeties and PTO switch were the most common problem on ZTs. Good luck.

I like to start at the source. Clean your battery terminals. Clean the inside of the connectors. Replace connectors and tighten firmly - they should not move. Trace your ground lead to the point where it connects to the frame. Clean surfaces well and be sure connection is tight. I'd begin troubleshooting from that point. Of course from there none may be required.

MTD (aka: More Tools Desired) uses the cheapest electrical components they can buy so anything electrical is suspect. Think I'd make a jumper wire and start jumping the switches to find the bad one after cleaning all the grounds and battery terminals.
