Had my tractor running, hosed it off, now it won't start???
Relay under seat just clicks when, lights flicker when key in light position. Put battery charger on & tried to start, still wont turn over unless I use jump start on charger and then it cranks over very slow & wont fire. Any ideas how to procede???

Wire brush the battery terminal and leads, and disconnect the ground from the frame, wire brush the area and bolt it back tight. That will probably fix it.

You failed to mention the model # of your Cadet so I don't know if it's a lawn tractor or a CUT. If it is a lawn mower some of those models have a relay in the battery area, about 1 inch square, most are identifiable by looking at them as they have a red gasket between relay and plug. We have replaced several of these over the years, most of the time the problem occurs after the machine has been washed.

Getut ... Did that already, thought battery might be bad. Cleaned battery terminals, took the relay under seat off & cleaned connections, also at starter connections. Thanks for the reply.

Botaman ... Sorry bout that, it's a Model 1470 lawn tractor. I am suspect of this relay under the seat also. Any way to test it? Also suspect stater, the way it cranked so slow when using charger. Tahnks for the reply.
