MTD SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS!!! MY 1782 HAS A BROKEN DIFF. WANT A PIECE OF JUNK. I WOULD NEVER OWN A CUB CADET, EVER. I LOVE KUBOTA ENGINES, BOUGHT THIS AND NOW A BROKEN DIFF, NEVER PLOWED NEVER BLEW SNOW. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A CRAFTSMAN, SAME QUALITY. I WILL GO BACK TO JOHN DEERE, BETTER PRODUCT!!!!

My 1450 (traded in for 2004 3235) was 26 years old. It mowed 1 acre and plowed snow for close to 20 years. It never broke anything other than a voltage regulator, tie-rod end replacement a couple times and a leaking hydro gasket.

These machines are from the early to mid 1990's I would imagine it had a life before you and it met. I dont know the details on when you got it or from whom, are you the original owner?
Replacing the differential probably isnt all that expensive, parts are easily accessible. You have a great machine once you get it repaired. You will have to buy an X series to have an equal machine or better.
Once things get repaired, remove the caps in your post because it sounds like you are very angry /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and let us know
what your next step is....If you want to sell it, please feel free in PM'ing me. If its close enough driving distance, I'll grab it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
a little work on something good dosent bother me at all....

How old is your Cub and how many hours does it have? Are you the original owner? If not, do you know the prior owner/owners and how well the machine was maintained? How about some photos?

You bought a JD 430, congratulations.

So when your JD 430, built sometime between 1984 and 1992, breaks down should John Deere go out of business as you have stated MTD should be out of business because your older model Cub broke down? Will all John Deere tractors built after 1983 be deemed "weak" by you as well? My guess is that we will never hear from you when you have a bit of trouble with your new/old JD.

Good luck and all the best.

But it did something for 500 hrs correct? If you can be more specific about the machine that would be helpful. What auction are you talking about?

Best of luck either way

It does have a tinge of strangeness, or something dosent seem right, cant put my finger on it....for the price of repairing the drivetrain certainly is less expensive than buying an older JD 430 series. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They seem to be holding their own.

I am sorry that you had some bad luck with your Cub. Unfortunately, it's a machine built with human technology, so at some point, it will fail.

I too switched to Deere, but only because I prefer the Deere dealer and he is more convenient. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I would guess this guy/gal is just a "TROLL" over from the JD forums and trying to get us to take the bait and start foaming at the mouth. Have a nice day troll---Cub Cadet "RULES".

Sounds like whoever he bought it from did one over on him. Was probably already damaged by abuse, or Machinery himself did something to cause it. What a shame! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I sold this to a mechanic. He will make all the repairs. Sorry about bashing The cUbs, they are a good machine.

I purchased this for my father. I mow about 5 acres with a Kubota F 3060 commercial mower. I also own a Steiner 430 max with a Kubota. I bought this 1782 as a present for my Father and because it had the Kubota engine. It was already damaged. Was not anything I did, just happened to discover it. Looks great, runs well. Just needs a axle front cover.

Take care

Dan
