Cub Cadet Cat Motor?

Talking to a dealer in Franklin TN this moring and they are taking on the Cub line as of April 1st. The salses lady told me that one ofht Cubs will have Cat motor. Is this true or does it matter.

Its absolutely true !! Its in their 7284 series CUT and its a 28 HP 3 cylinder diesel...21 PTO as well..

I could be full of s*** about this but I don't think it's a domestic engine. I don't think Caterpillar makes any small engines stateside.

Detroit Diesel made a 50 series but don't any more. They substitute a small Caterpillar but I don't know where it comes from.

The web site doesn't say where the CAT originates from. The smaller 26 HP is a Daihatsu. Here's the page...

Cat does make, or at least contract with someone who does make, a small diesel. Ferris markets a ZTR with it.

MTD must not have spell checker or at least the contractor who set up their web page is somewhat illiterate. Caterpillar is spelled wrong!! (caterpiller)

By the way, MTD is branching out. They have acquired Shiloh Industries, or at least part of them. Shiloh is an automotive stamper with plants in Michigan, Ohio and I believe Mexico. Go figure.

Caterpiller owns Perkins. Perkins has some sort of marketing agreement with Shibaura. Not certain what it is, but Perkins builds a small engine in England that looks like a small compact engine. The shipping box has both Shibura and Perkins on the side, these engines are marketed as the 100 series. The tractors that AGCO builds for Caterpiller have Perkins engines labeled Caterpiller, and have Cat arrangement numbers. This may not be the same engine but maybe .

Daryl the motor they are using is praobably a Mitsubishi made Cat engine. Theyve used them in their smaller dozers and most of the rubbertired hoes ive operated.

Ah yes, the prostituting of the American economy. I should be the one to talk, however. Kubota tractor, right. Of course, my new rotary hay rake was made in Italy.
