Hi everyone, I have been doing a lot of reading here the last few weeks. I have found a used Cub Cadet 7264 tractor for what seems like a great deal. It has 228hrs on it, 54" snow blower and 60" deck. I have not found many opinions on this tractor, either positive or negative. There are quite a few reviews of the other models in the line up, but it seems like this one has escaped most criticisms. The only thing that I am trying to find for it would be a loader.

How are current owners doing with parts availability? How has the machine held up? I am looking at a 4k dollar investment to get this machine and I am wondering if I would just be better off waiting until a kub/deere/kioti/mahindra comes along at a good deal. I have seen and test drove the tractor and it looks great and functions well. No leaks or anything like that.

Thanks for any and all info, and for everything I have read on here so far!
Anthony

About all I can tell you is that the 7264 seems to be kind of an odd model in the Cub Cadet lineup. Many of the older Cub compacts were Mitsubishi built and had Mitsu engines... a very good design. But the 7264 had a Diahatsu engine... the only model that did so, I think.

The Cub compacts didn't hold their value as much as some other makes, and this one lacks a loader, so it's a comparatively good bargain at $4k. That could be an advantage if you plan to buy and keep it. You won't find a used Kubota, Deere or other major make for anywhere near that price unless it's really old or really well used.

A major question with a somewhat odd model would be whether you could find a loader to fit on it. Maybe someone who knows Cub Cadet equipment better than I do could tell you if the 7264 had the same chassis as another more common CC model.

With used equipment, getting one in good shape is probably more important than what brand it is. If the loader thing could be sorted out and the Diahatsu engine doesn't bother you, it could be a good bargain.

To be honest i don't see how one could go wrong for $4000 for this type of unit.

I spoke to one Woods rep who did not seem to knowledgeable on them, but gave me a price of $4600 for the loader.

I think the 7264 was sold in 2004 or thereabouts. Just guessing that a comparable Kubota/Deere/other major brand would be $10k and up, and that will likely be a 2000 or earlier one. Woods would be a good choice for a loader. If you're otherwise happy with it, maybe the seller would let you put down a deposit to hold the tractor while you confirm that a Woods or other loader will fit for sure. Good luck, Anthony.

Thanks for the advice and comments everyone. I confirmed that Woods does in fact still make a loader that will work, it is 4600 plus shipping to get it in though!! I am checking to see if Koyker makes one that will fit as well, it sounds like that one will be somewhere around 4k all together. Either way the loader looks to cost more than the tractor!

I found a few kubota's for sale in the 9500 range that have everyhing I want, but they also have approx 1000hrs. Decisions, decisions......

Just did a search in the Cub Cadet forum here and found a number of threads that discuss the 7264. Probably the most crucial fact is that CC did a product recall on the 7000 series tractors to fix a safety issue with the HST popping out of gear on hills:

You probably would want to find out either directly from the owner or by calling CC with the serial # to make sure that one was fixed.

Thanks for the heads up, I had seen that. I also found the repair procedure using google just in case it hasn't been done.
