Hey Guys,
Am new here to the forum and looking to buy a Cub Cadet next spring. Figured now is a better time than ever to start to find out as much as I can.
The first bit of good advise I have got was to buy what ever the local dealers have. So my choices were Deere or Cub Cadet. Deere is out of my range. I have 2 different dealers and guess who ever gives the best deal and best equipped to solve any problems I would have would be the one to go too.
I really like the 5254 and know they are relatively new to the market. My property 2 Acres, is flat where I mow. I have another 3 acres that is rolling with some trees and open field that I would like to haul wood and brush hog a couple of times a year. Also would use it to blow out my drive which is 200 ft. long.
Is What I want to know is if I am in the ballpark as far as the machine I am looking at and the cost? The 5254, rear mower, . front end loader and snow blower. Hope I am asking the right things? If not please fill me in. Thanks so much for your help!

Richie, I just had my new 5234D delivered on 9/9. With 60" MMM, bar tires for $9700 delivered. I have a picture of it in the photo section. I have used a 5ft rear blade, dirt scoop, and 4ft standard duty box scraper so far quite successfully. The 60" MMM cuts very well, even in tall and wet grass. The bar tires do not tear up the grass unless it is wet and you turn sharply without slowing down. I am very happy with the tractor and my dealer.

Forum member "billp" has a 5252 with the FEL and is very satisfied with his tractor. He has quite a bit more time on his 5000 series than I do. You might want to shoot him a message so he can share his experiences and photo's with you.

I have a 5254 with a 60" mmm and fel.

The best deal I could get here in north central CT was $1000 off the list price on the tractor, then I paid full price for the mmm and fel.

I own about 1 acre on the side of a hill that is wet most time. This tractor does a great job.

I am looking for a snow blower for it now. My cub dealer says he may not get one in until next month. Have you seen one at any of the dealers you have visited??

My driveway is about 180 ft long (double width) and up a slight hill (10 ft over the 180 ft.)

No, but there are a few more I am going to when I get back home in the U.P. next week. As much snow as we get there I can not imagine one of them not having a blower. They were pretty much null and void with the tractors since it is end of season but know they will be getting the Blowers in. I will check it out for sure as I want to get an idea of how much I will be spending with the tractor, fel, rear brush hog mower and blower. Know it won't be cheap and can't get it all at once but it will give me an idea anyway. Imagine I would start out the same as you with the 60" mmm and fel.

Richie, I bought the 5252, the 2wd and Kohler engine model. I could not have imagined how tough and useful the tractor would be. I got the 60" belly mower and the FEL. I later bought a rear blade and tiller. Its got almost 200 hours on it and the only thing I have replaced is the belt on the mower deck. I think this model Cub is excellent for the money.

Richie, I also live in the U.P. and I use my CUB 7284 alot the loader and backhoe works great and I also have the cab and snowblower attachments. You will not be dissappointed with the cub. Its done everything I asked of it and with no problems. Enjoy it!

yes, these cubs are new. so new in fact I could not find one to demo when I was shopping this spring. Now I see one at a case'IH dealer sitting next to the red ones. still think it's ugly but probably would have gotten a better price than JD. And from the research I've done and my experiences with my similarly sized JD 2210 I would say the 5254 is more than enough tractor for what you have in mind. Just wish they would repaint that darn black nose piece to make it prettier, perhaps Cub yellow?

Powersct, I paid $7300 delivered for the tractor with a 60" mmm. The FEL was an extra $2500.

how much is a brand new 5234 with fel and backhoe. i have been looking around and just wondering how it compares to a bx24.

The 5000 series are no longer made, and they didn't have an BH option in any case. They were a SCUT-class machine, and were smaller and lighter than the BX24's, and not nearly as capable. Plus, they were plagued with reliability problems.

Are the 6000's & 7000's done too? It's too bad they(MTD) could not make the 5000's work. It's hard to believe they gave up.I have only seen a few 5000's but they looked tough as h#11.

5K, 6K, 7K, and 8K's are all done. Now they are doing SCUT's and CUTs through a joint venture with Yanmar.

I own a cub 5252 with a fel and the machine is a work horse. Just this weekend I have been moving bolders and several loads of loom. the machine has no problem lifting and handling large bolders. I have had the machine for 2years and have put it through it pace. I own a smalllandscaping buissness. And the machine has always responded well with whatever i put in front of it. Also cub does have a backhoe for the 5000 series. Also you can get a woods hoe for the 5000 series.

Where did you see that? It's never been listed as available on the Cub web site, and it's not listed anywhere in the online parts lookup either.

I beleive the cub part # is 612. Also if you contact woods equiptment they also have a hoe for the 5000 series. I called them during the winter time and the price was around $3500-$4000 with the mounting kit.

The 612 is the BH for the 6000 series.
