How do you know it has the correct additives? Cub Cadet never specifies a weight.

My owners manual specifies oil weight. They specify SAE. enough info for me to make a decision. That would be how much to pay for the oil. Eleven years and still going strong. 20W50 SAE hasn't let me down yet. Oil is Oil. Synthetic is Synthetic. With closed lube systems. I'd go with Synthetic. One mine that has an external oil cooler, Tranny and reservoir drain plugs I simply use a name brand SAE oil. The manual doesn't specify a special oil, nor does the service manual. If the drive unit calls for a special oil, then this debate is mute. Pay the price and use the special oil. The cheaper CC units that are sealed are not meant to be serviced, or at least that is the song from the dealership. They can be rebuilt or they would be welded where one cannot open it.

My 3235 manual doesn't say anything about the weight but just says to use only Drive System Plus oil. I've been adding the 20W50 oil lately since mine seems to leak often.
