Cub Cadet 2185

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and want to touch base with other Cub Cadet owners to exchange tips and tricks on maintenence and repairs' mainly the 2185 model. I recently purchased an older model, and have only experienced routine parts replacement; belt, blades, oil filter, etc. This winter, I plan to give the engine (Kohler CH18S) a freshening up, and will be looking for rebuild kit, and any other parts or tools that I'll need. Anybody who is familiar with this procedure, I'd appreciate your thoughts, comments.

Have you been to the Kohler web site to d/l the manuals needed for specifics of the donor engine? You'll need the serial and spec numbers to discern which engine you have. You don't mention which Kohler engine you've purchased. Your drive shaft orientation is critical with Cub 2000 series. The Kohler site will have the dis and reassembly manuals for d/l for you. Enjoy your Cub! Is it hydro or geared?

Why do you want to rebuild the engine? Those engine if properly maintained are good for 2000 hours.
