Cub Cadet 2150 noise

My tractor has 640 hours on it. when I go from forward to reverse I get a klunking noise. If I take my foot off the accelerator very slowly it does not happen. Any idea what this could be? Can I fix it myself?

I have a 2145 and I'm not intimatel familiar with the 2150. That said, I expect that if you raise the mower with a jack at the rear "bumper" and then turn the drive wheels back and forth you will have slack. From there you will have to back track to find the loose part. There is slack somewhere that is causing this.
