Cub Cadet 1525

Guys,
I'm in the market for a good used mower. My farm tractor dealer has a used mower that he is selling on consignment for an older lady. It is a '02 CC 1525 w/ a 15 hp Kawasaki engine for $1000. It only has 108 hours on it. He has had it for 8 months, sitting outside. Last year was a slow sales year, due to the drought conditions, so he didn't sale many units. He would offer me a 45 day warranty on the unit, and will go through it semi-thoroughly. He says he thinks the lady could come off the price some as well. I'm needing a mower for only 3/4 acre of flat mowing. This unit is a shaft drive. Do you think it's a good deal, or should I purchase a brand new 1045 for $1,400?

see if you can get it for $900 - and he does a complete service (plugs, oil, filters, belts, etc...) along with that function check for the extra $100 to bring it back up to the grand he started at?

and yes, i agree with you that the used model for $400 less than the new smaller one is a fair deal.

I always thought the 1500's were belt drive.I'm thinking it is still rated a LT?You say your lawn is flat and is 3/4 acre.If it were me i would go with the LT1045 you get a warranty, that tractor has never been stored outside,and you will always know what has been done to it and what it has been through.But all that said i don't know the 1525 so maybe its a great tractor?I wish you the best of luck and would love to know more about the 1525.

I agree with undercover, I'd go with the 1045 and the 3 year warranty. The 1525 is a belt drive transmission, the most I would give for it would be about $600 in prime condition. Otherwise for an extra $400 you would be getting a machine that is 6 years newer with full warranty and 108 less hours. If it were me I'd offer $500 for the 1525 with no service early in the season and maybe you'll catch them desperate to move it...of course thats just me, I'm a pretty cheap guy.
