Cub Cadet 1170 any opinions ? good or bad.

I have a small lot just over 1/2 an acre. I went to a dealer around the corner looking at john deere tractors when at the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of the cub cadet 1170 model. was priced alot less and had more features, also the dealer had it on sale for $ 1700 Any body ever own or know someone who has owened an 1170 model ? also I keep hearing roomers that cub cadet is not doing well financially and am worried if they go under I will not be able to get parts !!!! Thanks

hi, you know i had the same situation where i started to head for the JD lot but saw a Cub for sale by a private seller. i hesitated but continued on to the JD lot, and by the time i finished there, my brain was full of tractor info, and had no room for the Cab; and now, to be honest; since i've been on vaca, i've actually forgotten about it. but i am also definitley interested in any and all info on this comparison . bunches of thanks!

All I can say on the Cub's fiscal wellbeing is that the local Cub dealer in Highland, IL switched to Kubota. Now what that says, I cannot say.

I own a Cub Cadet 1170 and think it is a good hearty tractor I have talked to my local Cub Cadet dealer and he wishes they still made the 1170 as he sold so many and never had anyone have any problems with them. As for Cub Cadet not doing well financially I am not entirely sure but I have been seing more and more Cub Cadets out there all the time and I dont think there is a possibility of Cub Cadet going under as they are such a huge company being part of MTD now.

Starters, clutches, voltage regulators, starter solinoids, tire. These are things I have replaced on my 4 year old 1170. good luck

The Cadet 1170 is not a "Cub Cadet". It is a "Cadet" made by MTD, or one of those companies that make lawn tractors for many outlets. i.e. Seas, Menards, Farm & Fleet, etc.. Good luck
