Cub 2544 and mulching abilities & tow behind equip

Hi all,

I just picked up an 05 in CT this past weekend. Dealer didn't do me any favors as far as pricing compared to others posted getting close to 2700.

anyway. bought the bagger as a nice to have and to get it included in a finance deal. But was wondering how well the mower does mulching and discharging?

Looking to overseed early this spring and wondering what tow behind equip is recommended for dethaching and seeding if possible

Welcome aboard! Getting close to $2700 was rare to say the least, and only happed to those who lumped accessories in with the purchase. My 2544 mulches very well in stock form, but my 1.5 (western NY) acres is mostly closely cropped weeds /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. As long as it's green I like it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I don't cut or mulch low. Generally keep the deck setting at "3" & the deck gauge wheels rarely hit the ground. You will love the 44" deck. With any mulching, you will leave clumps if you get over aggressive.

thanks for the info, glad to hear the deck is good at mulching and will note that I should do it at a higher setting. I usually cut it higher in general to promote a better growth in the spring and then cut short come fall time frame in encourage root development.

I have this tractor. Love it. I also purchased two tow behind accessories to help get my lawn in top shape (which included overseeding). First get a dethatcher and then if you have some cash left, get a plug aerator. I bought Agri-Fab models and have been quite pleased with them. It's amazing how much thatch those rakes pick up. The plug aerator needs to have several concrete blocks added to it (I put on as much as it will hold). Use both of these items on your lawn prior to overseeding.
