CT335........ Right Decision?

   / CT335........ Right Decision? #11
When I was looking to buy a tractor, my thinking was to have one machine to do the mowing and all around chore... moving brush, logs, driveway maintenance, etc... so I said, I will buy the tractor to do all those plus more. Then as I keep reading here on TBN... some people suggested that ZTR is better for the lawn (my size anyway, 2.5 acres lawn rest are trees) than using the tractor if you don't wan't compacting it and leave ruts... and I'm glad I did that. I bought the Badboy Lightning for mowing and CT235 for rest of work. The Badboy has 2" receiver, front and back that I attached my 4'x6' trailer to haul logs too :D. Between the two machine... you can't go wrong. Hope this help or I just stir the pot... :D

I have had my eXmark for 10 years, only thing I have had to do with it is put a fuel filter in it when it was on its first year, and year 9 put a set of belts on the mule drive and deck.

Well that and a set of blades once a year, woods are tough on blades

I mow 7 acres with it and once in a while a neighbors lawn when he is on vacation

Change fluids on time and I dont see how I will ever wear it out

Best money I have ever spent, at least till the time I bought the Bobcat

I hope it lasts me the rest of my life

I got a kioti for my tractor work and a zeroturn for my mowing work, never looked back.
ever see profeesional lawn companies use heavy tractors to mow lawns?
A zero turn will work circles around a tractor for mowing, a tractor will work circles around a mower for utility work.

Yeah, if you can run a zero turn on your yard. Not happening, in an old orchard with some old stumps and holes. Hit a hole and it would pop e right out of the seat. A 7ft RFM will work just fine. Couldn't care less about compacting the weeds/lawn, just don't want the rutting.

Guy I am getting the tractor from showed me where he just mowed WITH the FEL on and it didn't rut his yard (same clay type). I don't think I will have a problem.

Slackdaddy's right for lawns but for fields/pastures/rough lawn a CUT with a rear mower still seems the way to go.

I personally use an old Craftsman rider to mow around the house and use the tractor in fields.

My 54" zero turn will outmow my tractor in tight areas and around trees where it can outmanuever the tractor.
When I get my the tractor with an 84" mower out in the more open areas and it will outmow the zero turn.

I am VERY happy with my CT335. If there is any one regret (possibly) is that I did not get the 45hp machine. I have a golf course-like 10 acre lawn and a lot of blackberry/rough pasture areas. I mow all with a 7' finish mower. The extra weight of the tractor can be a problem just after a lot of rain, but that would be a problem at any time. My tractor came with the industrial tires but I also have the turf tires and wheels. It really does not make much difference unless you turn sharply. The turf tires suck for traction and just forget 4wd function. It takes me 20 minutes to change all 4. The extra weight is desirable when using FEL and pulling any ground engaging implements. If you are worried that the industrial tires will muck up your soil, you are probably correct. Get the bobcat delivered with turf tire setup and it will still cost less than the Kubota. Plenty of power and easy on fuel at near half the price of the Kubota = right decision.

Demoman 357, which Kubota did you compare to?
I am still cost comparing and any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The closest I could find to the CT335 was the Grand L3240.

Horsepower, size and loader wise the CT335 and Kioti DK35se compare more to the Grand L 3940.
