CT235 Differential bolts question

I really don't know when my problem started as far as hours go. I do remember that the tractor was still under warranty when it first happened, but I didn't want to make a 4hr (each way) trip to my dealer. ( I'm so far west in Kansas, I'm almost in Colorado). My understanding is the stretching is due to torque from the tractor. It may all come down to how you use/abuse your tractor. I have worked my tractor fairly hard at times. Kioti tractors are made from the same manufacture, so I would assume that they would have the same problem. I don't know if there is a serial number cutoff where you could research the problem starting. Maybe if you took the info that I got from this website to your dealer, they could find out a date or serial number where they started the "fix". If you haven't located the bolts that are in question, send me your e mail address and I will take some pictures and e mail them to you. A large piece of cardboard placed permanently under your tractor where you store it, will give your first indication of leakage/loose bolts. Thanks to all of the help. JP

Does this problem usually present itself after several hundred hours or as soon as 25 hours for example?

Is this "stretching" problem due to not maintaining the tightness of these bolts from new?

Do comparable Kioti tractors of this vintage have the same problem?

Does Bobcat have a SERIAL Number cut-off after which the better bolts were being installed at the factory?

Thanks for the detailed replies.

Bobcat had problems early on with leaking in two places. One was the bolt stretching issue. Didn't matter hours wise. Really stood out if tractor had a loader.Second was hyd supply line from pump to FEL valve. the line would vibrate and cause the banjo fitting end to crack. Bobcat had us rap rubber around it to dampen the vibration. Third and I probably shouldn't mention it because its a sore subject with Bobcat but there were issues with hydrastats leaking. The gaskets between the pump halves would fail. It will drip out of the opening in the cover. There is no SN# break down that I know of. It was a fix as fail.

Thanks for the excellent responses so far.

I'm thinking of buying a low hour CT230 from a relative. This is where I have to admit my ignorance:

- Where do I look for the hyd supply line from pump to FEL?

- Where would I look to examine the gaskets between the pump halves? Where is the opening in the cover?

I really appreciate the help and wisdom.

Hyd supply line is located under your right foot and runs forward to just below R side engine cover. You can't see hydrastatic pump but there is a inspection hole( rectangle) center bottom of tractor. Stick your finger in and wipe around. Oil will be apparent if its leaking. Do you have a Dealer near you?

A little far for a service call. I was going to suggest a dealer tech look at it.

Thanks for your info Jabonee. I appreciate your input.
