So, I have had my CT225 for a week or so now. I really like it. I saw a thread before I purchased about the two CT225's (one with 25 HP and one with 27 HP). I asked the dealer and he had said that this was a 27 HP tractor. Well...it ain't. The manual and engine state 25 HP. Since I bought the tractor unseen (web/phone and delivered to my house) I didn't know for sure until it was here.

So my first question is, is the 27 HP version the same engine with a new stated HP (gross vs net) or is it actually a different engine? Second question is, should I put up a fuss over the two horsepower whether real or a numbers game?

Thanks!

The difference is the 27HP version of the engine meets Tier II emissions standards for 2010 and the 25HP version doesn't. Not that big of a deal really...

Kioti says the CK27 is 28hp, while Bobcat says the CT225 is 27hp (same tractor). I'd be more inclined to believe Kioti than Bobcat since Kioti makes the machine. I'm not sure how noticeable 3hp would be when compared to the previous model's 25hp, but it may come in handy when doing PTO work.

I thought Daedong made the machines for both Kioti and Bobcat.

So is the displacement the same between the 25 HP and 27 HP engines?

Yes, they are Daedongs. In the States and some other countries they are under the Kioti name. In still other countries Daedong slaps their name on it (for instance Australia).

No, the 25hp engine is 79.3ci and the 28hp is 85 ci (taken from Kioti's brochure).

Well, I answered one of my questions. In another post someone listed the displacement of the 27 HP model at 85.4 cu.in. and my book says 79.4 cu.in.

My other question remains. Should I put up a fuss over 2-3 HP? I do mostly loader, box/back blade and finish mower work but also some log and trailer pulling

The dealer answered my second question. I emailed him and let him know that this was not a 27 HP model as was my and his understanding but rather an older 25 HP model. He called me back today and said that he would gladly take it back and give me a new one that's on a trailer to the dealer today. He is going to come get the one I have and bring me a new one. I was glad I didn't have to put up a fuss to have what I felt was right done.

How did you determine the hp by the engine? My manual also states 25hp and the 79.3 displacement. If I search the web for the engine no. (td1300lxbc) I get the 27hp model. Is the engine number the same for both the 25 and 27hp?
My tractor has a final inspection date of 11/08 (written on the underside of the cowl).

I believe one of the dealers (Bluechip?) mentioned looking for the EPA sticker on the engine. If it meets the new Tier II emissions standards then it's the 27hp engine.

Yup. Look on the badge on the engine. It states the power. The owners manual that was on the seat should be accurate (assuming it wasn't switched). If it reads 25 HP (79.3 cu.in.) then you have the old one. Not a huge deal. It has been doing all I ask of it, it just isn't what I had intended to buy. The dealer knew this because I was hemming and hawing over the CT230 but went with the CT225 because it was just 2-3 HP but now in reality is 5 HP.

yep I got the 25hp version, I was having the same discussion with my dealer prior to purchase, 25 or 30 hp. He said oh no, the 225 is 27hp, it'l be about a thousand more for the 230. I got the 225. Its not a huge deal, just some major misinformation. I just left them a message. We will see how it goes

How long ago did you buy? Hopefully they will make it right!

gaberelli, Is the engine number the same on your new 27hp 225? Are there any other differences?
the 25hp is the td1300lxbc. My dealer said they talked to the bobcat rep who said there was only 1 engine used in the 225. Ever. Basically the stats were just changed to reflect the higher hp. My sales guy said the tractor was just under rated in the manual, He will get me the updated manual if I insist. I asked for the area reps contact info. My bobcat dealer really doesnt know squat about the tractors, just what they learned in a training class.

My CT225 says 25hp (18.6kw) @ 2600 rpm in the Manual...BUT it says
(20.1kw) @2600 rpm on the engine tag on the valve cover. My conclusion to this info is The Manual is not correct and my Tractor makes 27.01 hp @ 2600 rpm. Check the engine tag before assuming you have a 25hp engine!

My engine tag matches my manual...18.6kW, and there is no epa tag anywhere I can see

Thanks Sprocket, could you tell me if your engine number is td1300lxbc? and where is your epa/carb sticker located. My dealer will replace the tractor but He's making me prove the point With the Bobcat rep first.

Engine Family 8DCLL01.4D80
Displacement 1.393 L
Complies with EPA California Standards 2008

All info is on the top of the valve cover I.D. tag

Mine says 20.1kw on the tag on the top of the engine. I would think all 27hp engines would be the same. I would suspect they changed the test a bit but that does not explain the dispacement difference. They could have increased the stroke a bit ?????
