I was working in the woods and it seems a stick got wedged and broke the end of the curl spool on the loader block as well as the cable end cover. Is it reasonable to just pull that one spool out of the block with it still on the tractor, or should the block be removed first?

Additionally, has anybody come up with a decent skid plate for that area? It seems a tad vulnerable.

Thanks

I have looked through my manual some but didn't arrive at a conclusion for you. All their repairs on the valve are with it off the tractor. I don't see how you could do harm by trying the repairs before removing the valve.

The manual shows repairs with valve removed for picture clarity. It is not necessary to remove the valve to R&R a spool.

Thank you. Ordering parts today from MIE. Will be my first dive into a valve block, so I appreciate the support.
