Say you call in an order and pay for your order by credit card- you read them the 16 digits plus the number on the back of the card. Computers are digesting all voice data. What could go wrong?

How different really than the old days when they ran your cc thru the the imprinter? Probably more secure today, despite a handful of well-publicized hacks.

I was driving home last week and the radio announcer said they were taking requests for their nightly "traffic jam", an hour of music from 5-6:00. I told my dog in the back seat that I would like to hear the "Ramones", a punk rock band from the late '70s which you don't hear on the radio.
The very first song that they played was by that same band. Coincidence? Maybe, but more likely "they" are listening... especially since that station is owned by horror writer Stephen King.

"I Wanna Be Sedated"? Our local classic rock station plays that from time to time. Can't think of anything else by them that I've heard in the last 40 years or so though. Cool song. Should have been a bigger hit.

I think the only place I heard of that band was in the movie 'Rock n Roll High School'

Hard copies are generally more secure since distribution is more limited. You can't copy information without the piece of paper to begin with. I still get situations where a bank or other company will insist on mailed copies of documents.

Either way the banks don't seem to be too worried about it.

A coworker had a radio scanner in his vehicle for a long time. One day it locked into a satellite phone and we heard the guy give his complete CC info over the phone. To me it was like listening to your parents having ***.

I had a guy in my dorm who played them a lot... he was from South Boston when the band was popular.
They have a few songs which play occasionally. There is or was a car commercial with a line from one of their songs... "Aei, Oh, Let's Go!"
The Christmas season isn't complete unless I hear "Merry Christmas, I don't want to fight tonight." :D

It was the dog! They act all friendly and stupid, but they’re listening.
