The model # is LT1000 917-272660,OK I am confused. I need a picture of the carburetor. Then I can identify its individual parts. I don't know how much to take apart to get to right areas to do anything. The manual is useless. I have read up on carburetors and generally the fixes include adjusting two or three screws. Mine has one screw and a very limited governor adjustment. The problem persist. It will start when the throttle is pulled all the up to choke. As far as I can see inside the carb it opens and closes freely. Nothing happens to any linkage when throttle is moved except when it's in complete down position (slow) or up to choke. I have, hopefully, adjusted the throttle cable correctly. Where throttle lever is set right below engaging the choke the holes line up through the plate when the throttle is in high position.. Bottom line is the mower starts in choke position and runs for a couple of minutes then dies out. It tries to run if I accelerate by moving the throttle cable on top of carburetor but back fire and sputters to shutting down:dance1:

Pete, I have a2004 lt1000, and had a problem with the fuel cutoff solenoid.Did yours just quit starting and running? Sounds like ,obviously, a fuel problem. I messed with mine for a year before I removed the solenoid and broke off the plunger that cut off the fuel supply up in the bowl and taped the wire back.I am not telling you to do what I did! But I was at my wits end! the best way to test would be to try and find a brass plug that fits the hole in the bowl for the threaded solenoid, remove the solonoid install the brass plug and tape the wire back and see what happens.Mine has been OK for a 1/2 of last season and all of this season with no ill effects on shutdown,as in backfires. Just a thought, I may be way off base as I gave someone else the same advice always hard to tell a problem w/o seeing it, I just know how aggravating it was for me.also I assumed you tried all easy or obvious things first.also, just hearing the click of the solenoid was not good enough for my fix as mine was fine until it got hot then it slowly lost its magnetic pull and closed off the fuel. so a simple solenoid test of click/no click was deceptive .
