My dad has a Craftsman R110 rear engine mower with a 10.5 hp Briggs. It has 2 seasons on it. I brought it home to change the oil, sharpen blade etc. I have never heard it run until now and it is very loud. Muffler looks fine and doesn't rattle when shaken. I put a decibel app on my phone and standing 3' away it was 106db. Is this normal for this engine? It was running at full throttle without the deck engaged when I tested.

Briggs exhaust are not known for being quiet, but that sounds excessive.
