Tractor
JD 3032e
I have about three acres in front of my house that I have planted in bermuda. It is not quite one inch tall, but it will soon be ready for mowing. I have a 54" MMM on order for my 4010, but I am now thinking about canceling that and letting a cow and/or goat do the job. My thinking it that the cow would mow, fertilize and aerate (hoof action) all at the same time. The JD just mows. Of course the tractor stays in one place and does not test the fence for weaknesses when I'm done with it at the end of the day. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Am I way off base on this?

Cows are stupid, smelly, bug attracting, erosion causing and mostly ugly. Did I mention stupid? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif? They also won't eat the bad stuff. I can't wait to get rid of mine. Get a goat or buy some diesel.

Goats are overrated. They eat what they want and not what they are supposed to. In long term, the mower is better.

A cow will also compact the soil and create little potholes everywhere when wet.
A goat will climb anything it can besides eat almost anything that grows.
They are good for pastures not yards.

You'll also have to feed the cow when grass isn't growing, won't have to feed mower. Course I guess you could eat the cow when the grass quits growing and get another one when grass grows again. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
